Ways Of Beating The Big Freeze Indoors
It would be fair to say that compared to recent winters, the past few months haven’t been as cold as you would normally expect at this time of the year (touch wood!). But it’s worth bearing in mind that just two years ago, certain parts of Britain were hit by as much as 10cm of snow during the month of February so we can’t get too excited just yet.
When cold temperatures strike does your home feel chilly? If the answer is yes, then you almost certainly need a brand new set of windows and doors. There are also a whole host of other clever ways of keeping yourself warm that you may never even have thought of.
Oven
In order to cook all those hot meals, your oven has to reach considerably high temperatures. When taking your finished dish out of the oven leave the oven door open and allow the warmth to circulate around your kitchen. It’ll be so cosy that you’ll be keen to eat in the kitchen itself rather than on the sofa or at the dining room table.
Snuggle
Cosying up to your partner is a great way for you to both keep warm. Having a snuggle on the settee in front of your favourite TV programme whilst wrapped up in a few layers will help you transfer body heat to one another and warm the cockles of your heart.
Onesie
They may not be the most attractive fashion item, but who cares what you wear behind closed doors if it keeps you warm? Zip yourself into a onesie, pull the hood up over your head, and settle back on your sofa. You can find all sorts of weird and wonderful designs out there.
T-shirt on the radiator
Dragging yourself out of bed in the winter is made a lot harder when it’s cold. What you should do is set your radiator to come on just a few minutes before you’re due to get up and place a t-shirt on it the night before so that when you rise you can place the toasty t-shirt underneath a warm jumper. The instantaneous heat will feel like such a luxury.
Hot drink
It might seem obvious, but having a hot cup of tea or coffee will warm your belly and your hands as you keep it in your grasp.
Bed
Feeling cold in bed isn’t conducive to a good night’s sleep. Put on a pair of socks, two if necessary, fill up the hot water bottle, wear a set of pyjamas, invest in a thick duvet, add a few more bed sheets and cold feet and a cold body won’t ever been an issue again.
