Don’t Move, Improve What You’ve Got
We develop a bond with our home and one that is hard to break. But when space becomes increasingly hard to find and you have a large family, you have to decide whether to move or improve.
It is always a difficult decision for any homeowner and finances will play a major part in dictating what you do.
Just yesterday, a Post Office Money study revealed that the cost of moving house has gone up by around 25 per cent in the past 20 years, to an average of £9,472. This includes stamp duty, estate agents’ and surveyors’ fees, conveyancing costs and removal charges.
Has that made you wince? You may be better installing a conservatory or orangery to reinstate space as it is less hassle and more affordable.
There’s a conservatory and orangery for every home at Permaframe
Blessed with lots of outdoor space to extend outwards or keen not to intrude on the garden too much? We have various conservatory styles to suit, as well as the option of an orangery for something different.
Here is a handy summary of some of the possibilities:
Edwardian conservatory
Created during the reign of King Edward VII, the Edwardian conservatory comes in a rectangular or square formation, has a pitched roof and possesses sharp lines.
Victorian conservatory
A prominent feature of the Victorian conservatory is its three or five-faceted frontage which gives it a rounded look and it also has a steep pitched roof.
Gable conservatory
Born out of the Georgian era, the Georgian conservatory comes with glass windows that stretch right to the peak of the roof and has a stately-like styling.
Lean-to conservatory
Sometimes referred to as a garden room or sunroom, the Lean-to conservatory is a very compact design, perfect for those living in a bungalow or home with a low-pitched roof.
P-shaped conservatory
Offering a mixture of the Edwardian and Victorian styles, the P-shaped conservatory can be utilised as one spacious room or two separate living areas.
Orangery
Orangeries have existed since the 17th Century and were originally used for sheltering citrus trees in winter. They have a brick-built base and flat roof perimeter with central roof lantern.
We supply a number of orangery designs in addition to the many conservatory styles you can find online and in our showroom. When you see what is available, prepare to permanently put off all plans of moving.
