The Home Improvement Trends Of 2017 And Our 2018 Predictions
A lot has happened during 2017; it has been eventful to say the least. The field of home improvements has been particularly lively with a series of trends developing over the past 12 months.
There’s no question that further trends will come out next year and that 2018 will prove to be an equally momentous year for home improvements.
If you missed them, here is a recap of the most noticeable trends of 2017 and what we expect will be hot in 2018.
2017
This year’s most lusted after colour has undoubtedly been grey. It is everywhere at the moment and has been one of the most nominated finishes for replacement windows and doors and the latest lifestyle extensions at Permaframe.
Hot on the heels of grey has been Chartwell Green. This very soft green colour looks beautiful when applied to windows, doors and conservatories and helps to give them a vintage effect. It perhaps works best when utilised at cottages and farmhouses.
The number of orangeries sold has been unprecedented as they slowly begin to catch up with conservatory sales.
We think what people really love about the orangery is how easily it can blend into their respective household, partly because of the brickwork base. Conservatories on the other hand are a more obvious retrospective addition.
2018
It is highly unlikely that the improved popularity of orangeries will diminish anytime soon and there is a good chance that further alternatives to the traditional conservatory will also gain traction. We are talking about structures like the Loggia, arguably the most extravagant conservatory ever designed.
Traditional white coloured windows and doors are still big sellers, but we anticipate a growth in demand for coloured windows and doors. Colour palettes have massively broadened in recent years and given homeowners access to a wider choice of finishes which is perfect if you want something away from a conventional white or black.
Look out too for Pantone’s ‘Colour of the Year’ for 2018 – Ultra Violet.
You can bet that there will be a host of soft furnishings and home accessories developed in Ultra Violet over the coming months if you want to add a splash of this most fashionable colour into your home.
