For example, an east-facing conservatory gets lots of early morning sun, while a west-facing conservatory attracts more sunlight in the afternoon than the former.

As tempting as it is to just stay in your conservatory for long periods during the summer, the temptation to head outside will become too much at times. To accommodate for that, you could include French doors, patio doors or bi-folding doors in the extension so that you can create a beautiful garden opening.
