A Round-Up Of Home Trends For 2018 And Our Predictions For 2019
So much has happened in 2018! Another Royal baby (or could it be twins?) has been announced, Brexit continues to lead the news agenda and we’ve seen all sorts of weird and wonderful home interior trends develop over the past 12 months.
Sales of skylights soared as homeowners looked to capitalise on the light of the sun and entice more of it into their properties to help their rooms feel extra spacious and bright. An increasing number of householders also took further steps towards accomplishing a complete smart home by embracing smart technology more and more. Lastly, our kitchens are as colourful as they’ve ever been as we make braver colour choices when installing new kitchen cabinetry, appliances, islands etc.
If, like us, you’re dying to find out what home trends will emerge in the New Year we can let you in on a few of the trends we expect to see in 2019…
Spiced Honey
Ultra Violet was everywhere this year after it was announced as Pantone’s Color of the Year at the turn of 2017. This time around, Spiced Honey is predicted to be the must-have colour of 2019 after the colour experts at Dulux recently revealed it as their ‘Colour of the Year’ for 2019.
Dulux have summarised the Spiced Honey colour as “a warm amber tone, inspired by the beauty and versatility of honey itself.”
They have also very kindly come up with a guide to how you can implement Spiced Honey into your household. You can read it here.
Statement Ceilings
We concentrate so much on decorating our walls and seeing to our flooring that we often forget to exploit our “fifth wall” – the ceiling.
Think about some of the world’s most iconic buildings and you will note that many of them have a statement ceiling, so why not follow suit!
It doesn’t have to be overly elaborate as you could quite simply paint the ceiling in a colour that matches any accent walls and your chosen décor. If you fancy being a bit more ambitious you could add some form of three-dimensional or Geometric design to the ceiling to ensure it has a significant visual impact.
Floral Patterns
There will be a ‘blooming’ lot of interest in floral patterns, a trend that continues to flourish.
Floral patterns can be found on throws, pillows, beddings and various soft furnishings if you want to inject some flower power into your home. Or how about just placing a floral inspired chair in a room to make a colourful style statement that’s certain to bring smiles all round?
Our only note of caution with regards florals would be to not overdo things as too many florals could prove overbearing.
