Why U-Values Are Something All Householders Should Know About
You may have heard mention of “U-Values” but not be entirely sure what they are or know a good U-Value from a bad one.
If you are interested in investing into new home improvements for your property you ought to have an understanding of them as this will help you choose well-insulated products.
We say that because U-Values indicate the insulating properties of a material – the lower the U-Value, the better it is at halting heat loss.
Armed with this knowledge, you can now venture out and easily compare different materials. Doing so will enable you to assess e.g. whether a polycarbonate roof or solid roof is best for your brand new conservatory.
Nothing is more accurate than a U-Value for measuring the insulating properties of applications and materials, that’s why certain U-Values are specified in Building Regulations when you are building or renovating a structure. To determine the overall energy efficiency provided by such buildings you need to know the U-Value of the walls, floor and roof.
Not just beneficial in terms of thermal efficiency…
Low U-Values also guarantee you a warmer home. Draughts won’t be able to force their way through quite like they did previously, taking the heat off your boiler so to speak.
Huge money savings can also be expected as the cost of your energy bills will drop significantly as a consequence of the last point.
We’re completely open about U-Values at Permaframe
We want you to know the U-Values offered by every single Permaframe product as they’re incredibly low. You will realise this when we calculate the overall U-Value achieved by any conservatory or orangery you have built by ourselves.
If you are still a little unclear about U-Values and need some more information, please contact us to have a discussion with one of our experienced consultants.
